Damian J. Powell

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Northern Ireland in 1981. Achieved Distinction in Science Diploma (Access to Higher Education) upon returning to Education 2012-2013. Studied for a Bachelor’s degree (BEng) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering 2013-2016, with a final year project supervised by Prof Adrian Porch and Prof Damien Murphy, which was a collaboration between Engineering and Chemistry utilising RF & Microwave Engineering techniques to develop an EPR Spectroscopy probe-head which outperformed the monopoly manufacturers. Worked with Dr Jorge Garcia in Thermoelectric Research Group to fabricate, test, and characterise a thermoelectric device, which resulted in a higher output due to the addition of ionic liquid electrolyte in 2015. Joined the IET in 2013 as a student member and provided service as a volunteer in Cardiff Science Festival in 2014 and became an Associate member, following graduation has been made a full member.
